Specialists

  • Prof Goletti Orlando - Website
    General and Oncological Surgeon
The examination by Prof Goletti ALWAYS includes an ultrasound. THE EXECUTION OF THE ULTRASOUND DOES NOT AFFECT THE PRICE OF THE EXAMINATION.

Breast ultrasound is ALWAYS included in the breast examination.

Ultrasound scans of the neck ALWAYS complement the examination for pathologies in this area (thyroid problems, lymph nodes, etc.).

An abdominal ultrasound scan ALWAYS complements an examination for abdominal problems: it should be remembered that abdominal ultrasound, apart from its high sensitivity in the case of pathologies of the gallbladder, bile ducts, liver, pancreas, etc., also shows high sensitivity if performed with special techniques and probes (available at the Porta a Terra centre) in the case of inflammatory pathologies of the large intestine (e.g. diverticulitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerated rectocolitis), and often allows the diagnosis of neoplasms of the colon or small intestine.

Abdominal ultrasound ALWAYS INCLUDES PROCTOLOGICAL EXAMINATION, FOR TWO REASONS: FIRSTLY, ULTRASOUND ALLOWS EVALUATION OF THE COLON AND HIGHLIGHTS CONCURRENT PATHOLOGIES OR THE CAUSE OF PROCTOLOGICAL DISORDERS (e.g. GYNAECOLOGICAL OR PROSTATE PROBLEMS THAT AFFECT RECTAL FUNCTIONS); SECONDLY, THE PERFORMANCE OF ROUTINE ULTRASOUNDS IN SUCH SITUATIONS OFTEN ALLOWS THE DIAGNOSIS OF PATHOLOGIES NOT STRICTLY RELATED TO THE PROCTOLOGICAL PATHOLOGY, WITH AN UNDOUBTED BENEFIT FOR THE PATIENT.

Endorectal ultrasound, if necessary, can be performed at the same time as the examination for both proctological and prostate problems.

In selected cases, if necessary, e.g. lymph node swellings or suspected thyroid nodules, cytological samples can be taken immediately.

OF COURSE, ENDORECTAL ULTRASOUND AND CYTOLOGICAL SAMPLING ARE CHARGED SEPARATELY.
